This is a USED Whamo 91 Mold FRISBEE Golf Disc 174 grams in used condition. Whamo made a brief foray into manufacturing golf discs but never seemed to pay much attention to disc golf and got left behind. This trademarked Whamo product was made by Innova Champion Discs and is so stated on the embossing. It’s a modified Stingray type of wing. The initials on the back are Bob Lewann’s, a fella that was a player when I was just coming into the sport. His last tournament was in 1995 and he passed a few years later. The disc in the picture is the disc you get.
Disc-Red— Stamp-Black
Speed 7, Glide 6, Turn -3, Fade 1…just kidding, this was decades before flight numbers.
This disc rates a strong 7 on the Sleepy Scale (see below). USED DISCS ARE SOLD AS IS and NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS are accepted. Please ask questions before you buy.
Disc Golf Sleepy Scale
The Disc Golf Sleepy Scale is used to determine the condition of used disc golf discs. This rating system is accepted by most disc golf buyers and sellers.
10 – Never thrown, no ink, brand new condition
9 – Field tested or used for one or two rounds, many use this for storage wear as well
8 – Lightly used with very minimal wear
7 – Used with some minor dings or scuffs but still in good shape
6 – Typical used disc with the usual dings, scratches but still worthy
5 – Kinda beat, significant wear, has lost a good bit of it’s stability
4 – Beat up turnover disc with some evident war story wear
3 – or under- Beat to Heck, dog chew toy
Whamo Says: Basically nothing. There were later releases of ‘golf discs’ from Whamo with a driver, mid/fairway and a putter. None of them caught on. About 15 years ago I tossed some of them (not this disc) and found their flight generally under stable. The biggest negative for me was the grip, this mid/fairway version just feels cattywampus in my hand. I recommend a life of hanging on the wall for this rare and unique historical disc.
